In an effort to maintain our downtown space, preserve a sense of community, support local restaurants, provide beautiful safe space for families/couples/friends/co-workers to dine, raise funding for local park improvements, and think outside of the box, the Blackmon family created a temporary pop-up art gallery in downtown Rochester, Minnesota. The art is meant to provoke thought and create a forum for discussion.
Some of the art is available for purchase or commission. Guests may enter the gallery one at a time or as a couple. For emergency issues with the gallery, please call (612)425-5480.
The gallery is now closed, and we have still a few remaining paintings for sale. Donations to the Rochester Parks Foundation is the only way to purchase a painting.
Reservations for dining in the gallery space were made on the Bleu Duck web page (www.bleuduckkitchen.com) or through the restaurant (507)258-4663 for a 6pm or 8pm dining experience. This project is now finished, and we will perhaps do another pop-up gallery in the spring!
The entry piece with flowers is meant to be interactive. You may place a message into the wall as a private personal deposit of "thought." This will later be incorporated into another piece of art. Please do NOT take the flowers out of the wall.
We encourage you to take photographs. You can use the hashtag #BLACKMONGALLERY2020 on twitter if you like to comment.
